Completed in March 2012 by contractor 'B E Boys' the 'Goshen Sports & Gymnastics Centre’ for Bury MBC, comprised the £1.5million refurbishment of the existing fire damaged amenity block and construction of a new gymnastics hall.

Working closely with Bury Council Architects and contractor 'B E Boys', Atkinson Peck helped value engineer the project within the extremely tight project budget. The new facility, part funded by Sport England, will provide a welcome new home for Bury Gymnastics Club and organisers hope, gymnastic stars of the future.

The steel portal frame to the new gymnastics hall, incorporated external brick piers to maintain a building footprint entirely clear of obstructions. The steel frame in turn, supported lightweight composite roof and wall cladding with feature Kalwall translucent panels at each corner.

The substructure comprised piled foundations and incorporated gas protection measures. In addition a gymnastics landing pit was detailed using reinforced concrete construction and incorporating both tanking and gas protection measures.
