Atkinson Peck: ISO

Registration to ISO 9001 - Quality Management System

Customers are becoming more sophisticated, better informed and their expectations are growing. For any business, the only way to keep up is to offer a commitment to quality. BS EN ISO 9001:2015 is the standard against which the Quality Management System (QMS) of a business is evaluated.

A Quality Management System can be applied to all companies and demonstrates that a business can provide a consistent standard of quality. Most importantly, it is a common sense and practical method for improving procedures.

In the case of Atkinson Peck, many of the requirements of the Standard were already in operation, but had not been formally documented. Some of the benefits of implementing the quality management system include the following:-.

  • Policies and objectives set by 'top management'
  • understanding customer's requirements with a view to achieving customer satisfaction
  • improved internal and external communications
  • greater understanding of the organisation's processes
  • understanding how statutory and regulatory requirements impact on the organisation and your customers
  • clear responsibilities and authorities agreed for all staff
  • improved use of time and resources
  • reduced wastage
  • greater consistency and traceability of products and services
  • improved morale and motivation

Registration to ISO 9000 takes place when an accredited 3rd party visits an organisation, assesses the management system and issues a certificate to show that the organisation abides by the principles and requirements set out in ISO 9001:2000.
