Official Opening of the Daisy Haye Extra Care Home

Daisy Haye, our highly successful Extra Care scheme in Leek, held its official opening on 20th March 2015 with attendees from Your Housing, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Southdale Construction. Karen Bradley MP who joined the celebrations was quoted as saying:-

"I was very pleased to be asked to open the Daisy Haye Extra Care facility in Leek. It's a really lovely place and a great home to 88 people who can enjoy their retirement in purpose built apartments, knowing that support is available onsite. It was wonderful to see people enjoying independent living with friends around them so that they can share in mealtimes and social activities literally on their doorstep. Congratulations to Your Housing Group for creating a great place to live and a very suitable celebration."

The project commissioned by 'Your Housing Group' as part of a joint venture with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, comprises the new build construction of 88 self-contained apartments together with communal areas and staff facilities.

Triangle Architects designed the building around a series of garden courtyards using the ‘retirement village’ concept to allow future residents the benefits of an independent lifestyle within a safe community environment with a variety of activities and staff support on hand.

Karen Bradeley MP, helped resident ‘Nesta Knight’ and ‘Churnet View’ school pupil ‘Lola Dobel-Ober’ unveil a fantastic carving to mark the event and presented certificates to pupils for their contribution to the Past and Present Exhibition which is in the Atrium.
