Seddon Homes 2013/2014

We continue to assist ‘Seddon Homes’ with our Civil and Structural services on a greater number of projects across the North of England associated with the pick-up in house building fuelled by new house sales in the ever improving housing market.

Towards the close of 2013 alone, Atkinson Peck were actively involved with the Civil and Structural Design of Brookfield (Chapel Lane, Coppull - 117 units), Shire Croft (Lees Road, Mossley - 43 units) and Hammond Rise (Winghouse Lane, Tittensor - 11 units). Meanwhile, construction of developments at Oak Bank Mill (Casterton Avenue, Burnley - 87 units) and Ivy House Mill (Commercial Road, Hanley - 67 units) are progressing well.

In many cases, Atkinson Peck have been involved from an early stage, providing preliminary design advice for both purchase and budget costing purposes, coordinating Geo-Environmental investigations, and preparing flood risk assessments and preliminary drainage appraisals for submission with Planning Applications.

Once planning permission has been obtained a typical full design service would include:-

  • Cut & fill calculations, utilizing Civils 3D to minimize importation/exportation of materials, and determine the most appropriate site levels and plot finished floor levels.
  • Design of House Sub-structure using the most appropriate foundation solution.
  • Full House Super-structure including coordination of specialist subcontractor design portions.
  • Full plot drainage, including Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) where appropriate and assistance with Code for Sustainable Homes, SUR1 & SUR2, where required.
  • Production of submission information for S38, S104 and S278 technical approvals.
  • Full liaison with the Architect.
